This piece was created for PG Printmaker Gallery’s annual group exhibition in 2019. It is a digital collage created in Photoshop from old black and white photographs as well as modern photos. It is a limited edition giclee print of 15 and printed on canson archival rag paper.

This year the theme was THE JOURNEY OF VIOLETS in support of The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Exhibition Dates: June 20th - July 4th 2019

I was invited alongside 13 other contemporary artists working in print media to create an artwork inspired by the poem ‘The Journey of Violets’ by Iranian poet Mohammad Reza Shafiei Kadkani.

In winter’s last days,
the migration of violets are beautiful.
On grey midday's of Winter,
When violets are moved in small wooden boxes
– their mobile homes –
With their roots, leaves, grafts and soil,
Saved from cold shadows and wrapped in Spring’s satin scent;
A thousand laments spring from my chest and flow down my cheeks:
I wish humans could take their home too
– roots, leaves, grafts and soil –
Where ever they move,
Away from cold winds,
And into bright sunlight.

Poem by Mohammad Reza Shafiei Kadkani.
